Passports & Visas for Your Safari
Entry requirements vary by nationality and destination, and they can change. This page is general guidance only — you are responsible for confirming and obtaining the correct documents for your trip (see Section 6 of our Terms & Conditions), and we always recommend verifying current requirements with the relevant embassy, consulate, or official government portal before you travel.
1. Passport Validity
Most East African countries require your passport to be valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure date, with at least two blank visa pages. Check this as soon as you book — passport renewals can take several weeks.
2. Visas for Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda
Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda each require most non-East African nationals to hold a visa or an East Africa Tourist Visa (a single visa valid for travel across all three countries, where you plan to cross land borders between them). Many nationalities can apply online in advance through the relevant government e-visa portal, and some may be eligible for a visa on arrival, depending on nationality and current regulations.
3. Visas for Zanzibar, Ethiopia & Seychelles
- Zanzibar is part of Tanzania and generally follows the same visa requirements as mainland Tanzania.
- Ethiopia offers an e-visa for most nationalities, applied for online before travel.
- Seychelles does not require a pre-arranged visa for most nationalities, but does require a valid Tourist Entry Permit, issued on arrival subject to proof of accommodation, a return ticket, and sufficient funds.
